Trip to Boston: New Laptop, New Problem
It happened on my trip to Boston to visit my Aunt Joy and her family. While I was walking around Woburn, I found this store – called Office Depot – and I thought I could take a look around and see what laptops they are selling. I looked around and liked some laptops here and there but there was this one laptop that caught my eye and the sales man was doing a great job advertising it. “How much is that?” I asked while looking at the laptop he was advertising. “Ah yes. Ma’am, this is the Lenovo ThinkPad T500 243. It costs $1,028.95 and it is a cheap bargain.” Not really from the place, I was not sure if it is a cheap bargain or not, but I definitely like it. I was really planning to buy a new laptop since Daichi – my laptop – was already nearing its time to be replaced. I was thinking of this one and since it is much cheaper to buy one here, I used my emergency credit card and bought it.
Once I got to my aunt’s house using a cab, I tried it in the guest room and asked for permission to use the Wi-Fi in my aunt’s home. Upon getting permission, I quickly downloaded this known application that strengthens your firewall and since I don’t want to deal with more problems of viruses, I downloaded ZoneAlarm. It was going great at first but then the new laptop sometimes go with random restarts and I never knew what was wrong. I tried to consult the ZoneAlarm Help in their website and also searched if there were other people who suffered or are suffering from such problems. It was new to me and so I thought a little research would be good. I was redirected to the Lenovo site and its forum. There was this subject, “T410 and ZoneAlarm Issues”. I checked it out and found some information on how to deal with it. I then went to where I bought it and it was good there was warranty. They took out the ZoneAlarm and reconfigured my laptop and just in time before our flight back home. It was a new problem that I encountered since it worked okay with Daichi. Good thing I was still in Boston when I found the problem. Lucky!
